How to give a baby a bath

The bath of a newborn baby should respect some essential points: organization of the place where you will bathe, wash your face and hair, wash your body, and finally, your drying.

Step 1 – Organize your bathroom

Before bathing your newborn baby, it is important to prepare all the material you are going to use and place it near the bathtub where you can easily reach it. Afterwards, it must warm the environment to a pleasant temperature, between 22 and 25ºC, and close any door or window that can create draft. Finally, fill the bathtub with water up to 13 cm and at a temperature of 36 / 37ºC (check with a thermometer or with your wrist).

Step 2 – Wash your face and hair

With the baby still wrapped in the towel, place your head on the tub, keeping your arm underneath, and your hand to hold the neck. Without wetting your ears, rinse your head with water from front to back, without massaging or rubbing. To wash the face, use only gauze wet in water.

Step 3 – Wash the body

After the face and the hair, it is time to wash the rest of the body. Placing the arm on the baby’s back, so that the head rests on the forearm, insert the newborn into the water. Then, with little soap, wash the baby in the following order: arms, hands, belly, legs and genital area. Then turn the baby, keeping his head on his forearm, and wash his back and tail.

Step 4 – Dry the baby’s body

Without rubbing, dry the body very well, especially the folds, so as not to become moist and cause rashes. Finally, pass a baby-specific moisturizer, put on the diaper and wear it.
